Kentucky fans took to the streets after the Wildcats' 67-59 win over Kansas for the program's eighth national title. #LexingtonPoliceBlotter was trending worldwide on Twitter for hours after the game. The Associated Press reported a car crashed into the patio area at a bar and grill where some people were dining. A police spokeswoman said people were arrested for charges such as criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, alcohol intoxication and setting fires.

AP: "Fans back home streamed out of bars to fill the intersection of Euclid and Woodland streets, some throwing beer cans into the air. Police in riot gear looked on but kept their distance at that corner. Some revelers even stopped officers and asked to get photos taken with them and to shake hands. Officers happily obliged."

Back in Lexington, celebrators told AP the mayhem was worse following the national semifinal win over Louisville, as this Saturday photo suggests. More than two dozen arrests were made that night. The AP reported that firefighters were dispatched to 50 blazes near the Lexington campus, which included a car, couches and campfires that were lit in the middle of the street.

Lexington Fire Department Battalion Chief Ed Davis told the AP "a few bad apples'' caused problems Saturday -- such as throwing beer bottles at police as they tried to break up the crowd.
