'Truck City'? FGCU adds another chapter to the Dunk City legend

Florida Gulf Coast's transformation into "Dunk City" during the NCAA Tournament followed a very American path to mass appeal.

It was invented by a relative unknown, was quickly hijacked, blew up unexpectedly along with the March fortunes of a Cinderella basketball team, spurred a rap video and many YouTube highlight compilations, and eventually created a quick tiff between universities as USC tried to appropriate it after nabbing Dunk City's orchestrator, Andy Enfield, to be their new head coach.

This is generally why we can't have nice things.

Mix in that the school is located in Florida, and the only piece of the narrative that may have been missing was a gaudy pickup truck.

Oh.

Yep, that's new head coach Joe Dooley tweeting out a picture of FGCU's new promotional vehicle, resplendent in purple and yellow with the Dunk City moniker rocking a rear panel.

The hysteria over the truck (wink, wink) even forced Dooley to clarify that it's not actually his ride (but it should be).

It's clear the school isn't going to let Dunk City become a one-March thing. And it shouldn't, since you definitely need other ways to sell a university that has its own beach, right?

So with that the case, there's only one thing for the Eagles left to do. They have a beach. They have a sick truck. They now have to make a run at topping the immortal Coastal Carolina media guide photo which showed the entire team on the deck of a yacht.
