Gus Malzahn has quickly rebuilt the Tigers from a winless SEC season in 2012 to a division title.

Auburn athletic director Jay Jacobs plans to renegotiate the contracts of Tigers coach Gus Malzahn and his staff at season's end, the Montgomery Advertiser reports.

Malzahn's current $2.44 million salary ranks 11th among SEC coaches. In his first season at Auburn, he has led the Tigers to an 11-1 record and a berth in next Saturday's SEC title game against Missouri. Auburn went 3-9 in 2012, including 0-8 in the SEC, before Jacobs hired Malzahn to replace Gene Chizik.

Jacobs said the university is prepared to make Malzahn comfortable:

“The Auburn people, me and the president and the leadership, we’re going to do what’s necessary to make sure that he’s reasonably situated in the SEC in coaches’ salaries,” Jacobs said.
