Texas A&M announced details of head coach Kevin Sumlin's new six-year contract on Thursday.

Sumlin's deal, which was previously announced in November, will pay the coach $5 million per year. Through the 2016 season, Sumlin would be required to pay the Aggies a $5 million buyout if he were to leave the university, but Texas A&M's buyout clause extends through 2019.

Sumlin’s buyout obligation to the University extends through the 2016 season, including any post-season contests, requiring restitution in the amount of $5 million dollars to the University. Texas A&M’s buyout clause runs the length of the contract through December 31, 2019.

Sumlin is 19-6 as Texas A&M’s head coach, including an 11-win campaign in 2012, the program’s debut season in the SEC. Prior to arriving in College Station, Sumlin led Houston to a school-record 12 wins and its highest finish in the BCS rankings in ’11.
