In his first two full seasons as a head coach, Tim DeRuyter has amassed a 21-6 record at Fresno State, revitalizing the program.

Fresh off his second straight Mountain West title, Fresno State coach Tim DeRuyter has signed a five-year extension with the Bulldogs, CBSSports.com's Bruce Feldman reports. DeRuyter's new deal runs through the 2018 season.

DeRuyter has led a remarkable turnaround at Fresno State in his two seasons on the West Coast. The Bulldogs were coming off a 4-9 season when DeRuyter took over the program before the 2012 campaign. Since then, Fresno State has gone 20-6, including a 14-2 mark in the Mountain West.

The Bulldogs fell short of a 12-win season in 2013 with a 45-20 loss to USC in the Las Vegas Bowl.
