With his Cyclones tied with North Carolina at 83-83 and six seconds left on the clock, Kane took control -- as he has for Iowa State all season.

After Kane's layup with 1.6 seconds remaining gave the Cyclones a two-point lead, North Carolina's Nate Britt rushed the ball up the floor. The Tar Heels tried to call a timeout after Britt crossed halfcourt but the officials ruled -- eventually -- that they didn't signal for it in time and the game ended.

The Cyclones advance to the Sweet 16 to face Connecticut, which knocked off East No. 2 seed Villanova on Saturday night.
