Former Duke quarterback Brandon Connette has transferred to Fresno State, the Bulldogs announced on Friday. Connette, who graduated from Duke in December, will be immediately eligible to play this fall.

In a statement, Fresno State coach Tim DeRuyter said the Bulldogs have added a talented quarterback in Connette.

"Our staff is fired up to have Brandon join our team this summer and strengthen our competition for quarterback," DeRuyter said. "He is a high-character, very intelligent young man that I think will fit in very well with our team. Given his experience of helping Duke and their spread offense go to the ACC championship, I think he is well positioned to compete to be our starting quarterback this fall."

Earlier this month, the Blue Devils announced that Connette would seek a transfer to be closer to his hometown of Corona, Calif., where his mother, Nancy, is battling cancer. Connette tweeted that he was "officially a Bulldog" on Thursday.
