Georgia and Notre Dame agree to two-game series in 2017 and 2019

Publish date:

The Georgia Bulldogs and Notre Dame Fighting Irish have agreed to play a home-and-home series in 2017 and '19, the teams announced on Wednesday.

The series will open with a game in South Bend, Ind., on Sept. 9, 2017, and then head to Athens, Ga., in '19. The two teams have met only once before, with the Bulldogs winning the 1981 Sugar Bowl, 17-10.

Georgia coach Mark Richt said he looks forward to taking on the Irish.

"Playing Notre Dame will be an honor and a great challenge for us. I have a lot of respect for the job coach Kelly is doing there and I'm sure college football fans across the country will enjoy watching our two teams compete."
