Meyer, 50, who was born in Ohio, said his door is always open for James. He added that he could "probably" figure out a situation where the four-time NBA MVP could catch a pass, too:

"When I heard the news, I was like, ‘They’re going to shut down the whole state. I’m really happy for Northeast Ohio. Now we’ve got to go get a championship...He's got an open door. If he wants to catch a pass, we can probably figure that out, too."

Meyer also tweeted his "welcome home" message to James. The OSU coach had offered James a scholarship to play at Notre Dame when he was an assistant with the Fightin' Irish from 1996-2000. James had said in the past that if he didn't skip college to go to the NBA and had pursued football, he would've played for the Buckeyes.
