Former Missouri wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham recently transferred to the Oklahoma Sooners rather than either sitting out a year and waiting for the NFL Draft, or heading to an FCS school where he could play immediately this season.

Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops, who recruited Green-Beckham while he was in high school, cited their relationship to NFL.com as the reason Green-Beckham was given this second chance in Norman during Big 12 Media Days.

"First of all, I had a close relationship -- as did Coach Norvell, our receiver coach -- from recruiting Dorial personally as well as with his family," Sooners head coach Bob Stoops said at Big 12 Media Days on Tuesday. "And then through extensive conversations with the people at Missouri and our people, it was something that we felt the person that he is, the potential that he has as a young man and as an individual, that we felt the opportunity to give him a second chance at our place could serve him well and be great for his future and believe in him as a young man and what he's able to maybe continue to become.

"So through that process we gave him the opportunity to be with us."

Green-Beckham spent two years at Missouri after being the No. 1  recruit in the country, but he had trouble off the field, The most recent incident, when he was accused of pushing a woman down a flight of steps, led to his dismissal from Missouri a few months ago.

At the moment, Green-Beckham is not eligible to take the field for Oklahoma this season due to the NCAA transfer rules, however he and the school are currently appealing to see if he can play this season.
