Auburn's Marshall pays citations in Georgia

REYNOLDS, Ga. (AP) Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall has paid the fines for possession of a small amount of marijuana and a window tint violation.

Reynolds, Georgia police chief Lonnie Holder said Thursday that Marshall's mother, Shalina Cliett, paid the $1,100 in fines. That means Marshall won't have to appear at a September court hearing.

Holder and another officer found less than an ounce of marijuana in Marshall's car during a July 11 traffic stop for the window tinting. The fines were $1,000 for the marijuana and $100 for the window tint violation.

Auburn coach Gus Malzahn didn't let Marshall attend Southeastern Conference media days. Malzahn said Monday on ESPN's ''Numbers Never Lie'' that he would decide Marshall's punishment ''in a short period of time.''

The Tigers open Aug. 30 against Arkansas.
