Texas dismissed senior running back Joe Bergeron from the program, the fifth Longhorns player disciplined this week by first-year head coach Charlie Strong, reports Anwar Richardson of Orangebloods.com.

Bergeron, a former three-star recruit according to Rivals.com, rushed for 1,392 yards and 25 touchdowns during his college career. Earlier this week, during Big 12 media days, Strong said that Bergeron was "back in the mix" after reportedly having academic problems. Apparently, things changed.

Strong, who was hired by Texas in January, dismissed two other players Thursday and indefinitely suspended two others.

Kendall Sanders and Montrel Meander were suspended indefinitely after being charged with sexual assault. Running back Jalen Overstreet and defensive back Chevoski Collinswere dismissed from team for undisclosed violations of team rules.

"When they get banned, they have to work their way back,” Strong said, via the Austin American‑Statesman. "Sometimes, if a guy’s been an issue since I’ve been here, he gets held a little longer than anybody else.”
