BYU, Northern Illinois schedule home-and-home series starting in 2018

BYU and Northern Illinois have scheduled a home-and-home series that begins in 2018. The teams have never played before.

BYU and NorthernIllinois have scheduled a home-and-home series that begins in 2018, the teams announced Wednesday.

The schools will play at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo, Utah​ on Oct. 27, 2018, and at Huskie Stadium in DeKalb, Illinois on Oct. 24, 2020​.

The 2018 game will be the first time the teams ever face each other.

BYU went 8-5 in 2013 and played in the Fight Hunger Bowl, the program's ninth consecutive bowl game.

The Huskies finished the 2013 season at 12-2, but lost to Utah State in the Poinsettia Bowl. 

On Tuesday, NIU announced the team will play a home-and-home series with San Diego State in 2016 and 2017. The school is announcing a new football series every day this week as part of a "SchedulePalooza" promotion.

One June 5, BYU announced the team will playhome-and-home series with UCLA, starting in 2015​.
