Highly touted recruit Chase Jeter verbally commits to Duke
Heralded 2015 prospect Chase Jeter announced his verbal commitment to Duke Monday night on an ESPNU telecast.
"I just liked the feel of the environment," Jeter said after announcing his commitment. "Cameron Indoor is a great place, a great basketball environment and I just felt like it was the right place for me."
The 6-foot-10, 220-pound Jeter is the No. 8-ranked player in the class of 2015, according to the recruiting website Rivals.com. He drew scholarship offers from UCLA, UNLV, Kansas and Arizona, among other programs.
"Slender post man started to emerge during his junior season and is highly sought after," Eric Bossi, a Rivals.com national recruiting analyst, wrote in March. "He has great size and shoulders that will fill out. He runs the floor and is an outstanding passer from the high post in high low situations. Does a good job rebounding, is developing go to post moves and will be a load once he adds strength."
Jeter joins five-star shooting guard Luke Kennard as the second player in the class of 2015 to commit to Duke.
The Blue Devils landed the No. 1 recruiting class in 2014, highlighted by five-star point guard Tyus Jones and center Jahlil Okafor, the No. 1 overall player.
The Blue Devils lose forwards Jabari Parker and Rodney Hood, along with seniors Andre Dawkins, Tyler Thornton and Josh Hairston, from a team that won 26 games and earned a No. 3 seed in the NCAA tournament before being upset by No. 14 seed Mercer in the second round.
