LB Tyriq Thompson verbally commits to Michigan State

Tyriq Thompson, a three-star linebacker from Detroit, Mich., has verbally committed to Michigan State, according to multiple reports.

Tyriq Thompson, a three-star recruit from Detroit, Mich., has verbally committed to Michigan State, according to multiple reports.

Thompson is the No. 10-ranked player in Michigan and the No. 40-ranked outside linebacker in the class of 2015, according to the recruiting website Rivals.com.

The 6-foot-1, 215-pound Thompson also drew scholarship offers from Iowa, Nebraska and Michigan, among other programs.

Thompson's father, Clarence Thompson, played for the Wolverines from 1993-95.

Michigan State's 2015 recruiting class, which is ranked No. 35 in the country by Rivals.com, now counts 13 verbal commitments.

The Spartans went 13-1 and won the Rose Bowl last season.
