Washington State gives coach Mike Leach, staff raises
Washington State head coach Mike Leach and his staff received pay raises after leading the Cougars to their first bowl game in 10 years, reports the Spokesman-Review.
Leach received a $500,000 salary bump, which puts his annual compensation at $2.75 million. Washington State athletic director Bill Moos said $500,000 will be added to a salary pool for Leach’s assistants, as well.
Washington State finished 6-7 last season and lost 48-45 to Colorado State in the New Mexico Bowl. Leach is 9-16 in two seasons with the Cougars and 152-93 in 12 seasons as a collegiate head coach.
“I still think (Leach is) one of the best coaches in this league and as we change our culture at Washington State we have to compete with those in our conference and around the country to build stability and consistency,” Moos said.
