Chubb has 52 yards rushing in Georgia scrimmage

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) Freshman tailback Nick Chubb ran for 52 yards and Hutson Mason completed 10 of 13 passes for 104 yards Saturday in Georgia's first preseason scrimmage.

The Bulldogs' No. 1 offense faced the No. 1 defense in the scrimmage at Sanford Stadium.

Coach Mark Richt said ''one of the better things'' about the session was the low number of big plays allowed by the defense.

Keith Marshall had 23 yards rushing on five carries. Todd Gurley had five carries for 13 yards. Blake Tibbs was the top receiver with four catches for 44 yards.

Mason is entering his first full season as the starting quarterback. His backup, Faton Bauta, threw for 102 yards. Freshman Brice Ramsey threw for 134 yards.

Junior linebacker Jordan Jenkins had three sacks.
