The California Golden Bears finished last in the Pac-12 last season with an 0-9 conference record; they were 1-11 overall. 

This year, Cal returns a total of 14 starters, including eight on the offensive side of the ball, led by sophomore quarterback Jared Goff. Goff started all 12 games last season as a true freshman. He threw for 3,508 yards with 18 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He completed 60.3 percent of his passes.
