One-time Oklahoma starting quarterback turned tight end Blake Bell is once again taking snaps at former position, according to TheOklahoman.

According to the report, bell is splitting snaps with the second team.

Bell started eight games at quarterback last season, completing 60 percent of his passes for 1648 with 12 touchdowns and five interceptions.

He did not start the Sooners' Sugar Bowl victory over Alabama, and redshirt freshman Trevor Knight instead got the nod. Knight ended up throwing for 347 yards and four touchdowns in the game, cementing his status as the starter coming into the season for the fourth-ranked Sooners.

More from The Oklahoman:

"Earlier this week, coach Bob Stoops said redshirt freshman Cody Thomas would likely be Knight’s primary backup, but according to sources, Thomas has been injured, which is why Bell has split second-team reps this week with true freshman Justice Hansen."

Bell is projected to be the team's starting tight end for the team's opener Aug. 30 against Louisiana Tech.
