Oklahoma wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham must sit out this season after the NCAA denied his waiver request to play immediately following his transfer from Missouri, the school announced on Friday.

Big 12 betting preview: Oklahoma strong contender for conference title

Green-Beckham was dismissed by Missouri in April after a series of off-the-field indiscretions, including two marijuana-related arrests. He transferred to Oklahoma in July.

His waiver request was based on the NCAA's "run-off" rule for players who transfer for reasons beyond their control.

The 6-foot-6, 225-pounder had 59 catches for 883 yards and 12 touchdowns last season for the Tigers — who finished the season ranked No. 5 in the country — and was a second-team AP All-SEC selection. He had 28 catches for 395 yards and five touchdowns as a freshman.

A five-star recruit out of Hillcrest High in Missouri, Green-Beckham was one of the nation's most sought after talents in the Class of 2012. Oklahoma was one of his finalists at the time, but he chose Missouri.

His transfer to Oklahoma came with stipulations, including rehabilitation and a zero tolerance drug testing policy.
