Game Facts

South Carolina facts

The Gamecocks have won 14 straight season openers dating to the 2000 season.

South Carolina currently has a school record 18-game home winning streak, the longest current streak in the country.

Redshirt senior Dylan Thompson will start at quarterback. He's started three games in his career and saw plenty of action while backing up former signal-caller Connor Shaw.

Running back Mike Davis broke out as a sophomore last season, rushing for 1,183 yards and 11 touchdowns.

South Carolina lost defensive end Jadeveon Clowney to the NFL, but defensive back Brison Williams was a preseason third-team All-SEC pick by the conference media.

Texas A&M facts

The game will mark the Aggies' first Thursday night affair since Kevin Sumlin took over as coach in 2012.

With Manziel having left for the NFL, sophomore Kenny Hill takes over at quarterback. He played in four games as a freshman last season.

Texas A&M is 10-2 in games away from Kyle Field under Sumlin.

Projected first-round pick Cedric Ogbuehi will move from right tackle to left tackle this season to replace Jake Matthews.

The Aggies are opening the season against a conference opponent on the road for the first time in school history.
