Two Maryland football players have been suspended for the season after violating the Student Code of Conduct, the school announced on Friday.

Junior Levern Jacobs is listed as a starter at wide receiver and senior A.J. Hendy is listed as a backup at safety on the depth chart the Terrapins released earlier this week.

Jacobs was charged with second-degree assault last week over a July incident. Coach Randy Edsall issued a statement suggesting Hendy was also involved in the incident, but he has not been charged.

“I have spoken with Levern and A.J. and expressed my disappointment with their actions,” Edsall said. “They showed poor judgment and failed to uphold the standards of a student-athlete at the University of Maryland. Both Levern and A.J. were regretful and apologetic about their role in this incident and understand that their actions will not allow them to participate in the upcoming football season.”
