Kingsbury, 35, led the Red Raiders to an 8-5 record and Holiday Bowl victory over Arizona State last season, his first at the school. Before Texas Tech hired Kingsbury in December 2012, he served as the offensive coordinator at Texas A&M and Houston.
The Red Raiders, which open the season Saturday against Central Arkansas, were picked to finish sixth in the Big 12 in a preseason media poll.
