Wisconsin RB Melvin Gordon suffered hip flexor injury against LSU

Wisconsin coach Gary Andersen said Monday that junior running back Melvin Gordon suffered a hip flexor injury in Wisconsin's season-opening loss to LSU on Saturday.
Gordon, who rushed for 140 yards and a touchdown, had only four carries in the second half. After the game, Andersen said he did not know why Gordon's workload was limited, while Gordon said "I was all good."
Gordon rushed for 1,609 yards and 12 touchdowns at a nation-best 7.8 yards per carry last season and earned second-team All-Big Ten honors.
Gordon said he will be ready for Saturday's game against Western Illinois.
Melvin Gordon: My hip injury happened on my last run before halftime. I was ready to go, but they were looking out for what's best for me.
