Stanford is USC's oldest rival, with the teams first playing in 1905.

Offensive guards Toa Lobendahn and Damien Mama became the first pair of freshmen to start a season opener on the offensive line in school history.

In last season's matchup, Andre Heidari kicked a 47-yard field goal with 19 seconds left to give USC a 20-17 win over the Cardinal.
