Lamar Cardinals vs. Texas A&M Aggies

The No. 9 Texas A&M Aggies started the post-Johnny Manziel era last weekend with a win over SEC foe South Carolina, 52-28. On Saturday, the Aggies will host the Lamar Cardinals of the Southland Conference. Lamar defeated Grambling State in its season opener.

In last week's win over South Carolina, sophomore quarterback Kenny Hill's 511 passing yards broke Johnny Manziel's Texas A&M single-game passing record. 

Hill was named SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week along with Georgia running back Todd Gurley. Hill was also named National Offensive Player of the Week and one of the Manning Award “Stars of the Week.”

The Aggies have led the SEC in passing, scoring and total offense the past two seasons.

Texas A&M was named the FWAA National Team of the Week for its Week 1 performance.

The win over South Carolina moved the Aggies from No. 21 to No. 9 in the AP Top 25 poll.

The Aggies will meet Lamar for the first time on Saturday. 

Texas A&M has faced teams from the Southland Conference on sixteen occasions. The Aggies hold a perfect 16-0 record in those games.

A&M has ranked in the top 25 nationally in passing and total offense in each of the past five seasons.

The Aggies' Week 1 win was its first win in a season opener since joining the SEC. 

A&M has scored first in 24 of 27 games under coach Kevin Sumlin.
