Central Arkansas' late TD beats UT-Martin 26-24

CONWAY, Ark. (AP) Courtney Whitehead hauled in a 14-yard scoring pass with 1:11 left to play and Central Arkansas completed a second-half rally to beat Tennessee-Martin 26-24 on Saturday night.

The late pass from Ryan Howard to Whitehead capped an 80-yard drive for the Bears (1-1), who outscored UT-Martin (0-2) 19-3 in the second half. Bobby Watkins intercepted Tennessee-Martin's Jarod Neal with 55 seconds remaining to ice it.

Central Arkansas scored 12 unanswered points in the last 17 minutes. Jace Denker kicked field goals of 20 and 34 yards. Willie Matthews scored from the 7 to start the third quarter.

Taylor Reed and Howard combined to pass for 251 yards and threw a touchdown apiece for Central Arkansas.

Neal completed 20 of 28 passes for 276 yards with TDs to Kyle Kerrick and Corey Jordan, and also ran for a TD as the Skyhawks built a 21-7 lead by halftime.
