Louisville Cardinals vs. Virginia Cavaliers

Louisville will play its first road game in the ACC against Virginia on Saturday. Louisville beat Miami in its ACC debut two weeks ago and defeated FCS opponent Murray State on Saturday 66-21. Virginia (1-1) beat FCS foe Richmond 45-13 on Saturday after dropping its opener at home to UCLA. It will be the first meeting as conference opponents for Louisville and Virginia, who have met twice previously, most recently in 1989 at Charlottesville, a 16-15 win for the Cavaliers. The series is 1-1 all-time.

Virginia snapped a 10-game losing streak that dated back to last Sept. 28 with its win over Richmond.

The Cavaliers have scored 31 points on nine takeaways this season after only scoring 13 points on 21 takeaways all of last season.

Virginia has allowed two offensive touchdowns in two games, the first time it has done that since 1998.

The Cavaliers seven takeaways against Richmond were their most since getting seven against South Carolina in 2002.

Daquan Romero’s interception against Richmond was the first by a Virginia linebacker since 2010.

Louisville facts

Louisville has won eight straight games, the second-longest active streak in the country after Michigan State’s loss at Oregon on Saturday.

The Cardinals’ 45 first-half points against Murray State were their most in a first half since hanging 49 on the Racers in 2007.

Louisville’s 325 rushing yards against Murray State were its most since 2008.

The Cardinals have had two different 100-yard rushers in their first two games—Dominique Brown had 143 yards against Miami and L.J. Scott went for 126 against Murray State.

Reggie Bonnafon is the first freshman Louisville quarterback since Teddy Bridgewater in 2011 to account for three touchdowns in a game.
