The Citadel has suspended the player who said he and his fellow offensive linemen told each other in the week leading up to Saturday's loss to Florida State "that we would be going for knees."

Senior Victor Hill made the remarks in the comment section of an article in the Charleston Post and Courier.

The remarks have since been deleted, but were captured in a screen shot by the Florida State website Tomahawk Nation. Hill issued an apology on Sunday.

The Citadel employs a triple-option offense featuring cut blocks. Three Seminoles defensive linemen — Nile Lawrence-Stample, Eddie Goldman and Justin Shanks — suffered leg injuries during the game.

"Those guys that cut and chop like this, it's crazy," Seminoles coach Jimbo Fisher said after the game, according to the Tallahassee Democrat. "I'd rather play more conventional teams. Just because of the chance of injuries that occurred."

In a statement released by the school, The Citadel coach Mike Houston said he reviewed the game and found no intent to injure on the part of Hill or any other players.

Houston added that Hill "could return to the team when he successfully demonstrates that he can abide and live by the core values that should be demonstrated by any individuals who have the privilege to represent The Citadel and our football program."

Florida State and The Citadel both have bye weeks before facing Clemson and Charleston Southern, respectively, on Sept. 20.
