The Wildcats have struggled en route to an 0-2 start this season, losing both games at home. In the season opener, Northwestern fell behind 31-7 in the third quarter and eventually lost 31-24 to Cal, a team that went 1-11 last season and hadn't won a game against an FBS opponent since Oct. 13, 2012.

Last week, Northwestern lost 23-15 to Northern Illinois, which lost star quarterback Jordan Lynch from last year's team. Through two weeks, the Wildcats are No. 86 in the country in total defense and No. 92 in total offense.

Shortly before the season began, starting running back Venric Mark transferred from the team for personal reasons. Wide receiver Christian Jones also suffered a season-ending knee injury prior to Northwestern's first game.

Northwestern has a bye this week. Its next game is Sept. 20 against Western Illinois.
