MOBILE, Ala. (AP) The first sellout in South Alabama's six years as a football program was not enough to upset Southeastern Conference opponent Mississippi State.

The Bulldogs eclipsed the 500-yard plateau for a school-record fourth straight game as quarterback Dak Prescott rushed, threw and caught a touchdown for the second time in his career. Mississippi State finished with 514 yards in the 35-3 victory at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.

''This was the biggest game in the history of Mobile, Alabama,'' said Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen. ''Mississippi State is plastered as the biggest game in the history of this city and it was won by Mississippi State University. Not Auburn, not Alabama - Mississippi State.''

Prescott completed 13 of 21 passing for 201 yards and a touchdown while also carrying 14 times for 139 yards and another score. The 6-foot-2, 235-pound junior also caught a 24-yard touchdown pass from Jameon Lewis in the second quarter as the Bulldogs improved to 3-0.

''It was all about us and we knew we had to come in and stick to our game plan,'' Prescott said. ''We had to execute on offense and play good defense and know what kind of team we have. We stuck to that and got the victory.''

The Bulldogs gained 288 yards on the ground with Josh Robinson running for 77 yards and two touchdowns on a dozen carries. Lewis led all Mississippi State receivers with six catches for 76 yards.

''I like how our team's been playing,'' Mullen said. ''I (like) how we take games with a professional approach.''

Mississippi State was the first Southeastern Conference team to visit Ladd-Peebles Stadium since Alabama defeated Southern Miss 17-14 there in 1968. A record crowd of 38,129 attended Saturday's contest.

''It's so exciting for our players and everyone involved with the university, and we are excited they came out,'' said South Alabama coach Joey Jones. ''It was an atmosphere our kids will never forget, and I appreciate our fans coming out and supporting them. I wish we would have played a little better, but you have to play great to beat those guys and we didn't play great.''

Mississippi State scored in the opening quarter when Prescott connected with Malcolm Johnson on a 15-yard touchdown strike.

The Bulldogs began to open things up in the second quarter as Josh Robinson scored on runs of 2 and 15 yards and took a 28-3 lead by halftime.

Prescott added a 40-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

South Alabama (1-1) finished with 345 yards on the day. The Jaguars were limited to 57 yards rushing and committed four turnovers.

''We talk every day about creating mayhem,'' said Mississippi State linebacker Beniquez Brown. ''We want to help our offense and get them into scoring position and score points.''

South Alabama scored its only points on a 26-yard field goal by Aleem Sunanon early in the second quarter.

Brandon Bridge was 21 of 39 and threw for 203 yards and one interception. He was sacked six times.

''I know that this game does not define us despite the mishaps we had on offense, defense and special teams,'' Bridge said. ''We have two goals as a team: a conference championship and a bowl game. Those are still in our reach. This game doesn't define us. We can still accomplish our goals.''

Jereme Jones caught seven passes for 76 yards to lead the Jaguars' receivers.
