Game Facts

SMU facts

Saturday's game will mark the first time that SMU takes the field with defensive coordinator Tom Mason serving as the interim head coach. Mason was named SMU's interim head coach on Sept. 8 after June Jones stepped down from the position.

The SMU offense averages just three points per game while its defense has given up more than 40 points in each of its two outings this season.

Texas A&M's trip to Dallas marks the home opener for the Mustangs. SMU has won five of its last six home openers.

Redshirt freshman quarterback Kolney Cassel will get his first start for SMU on Saturday.

SMU's last win over the Aggies came at home in 1984.
