Auburn suspended starting safety Jermaine Whitehead for violating team rules, the team announced.

Whitehead, who is a three-year starter, did not make the trip for Auburn’s game against 20th-ranked Kansas State on Thursday night. 

ESPN.com reported that Whitehead is suspended for being disrespectful to a coach.

Whitehead has 12 total tackles in two games this season and leads Auburn with two interceptions, including a pick-six in the team’s opener against Arkansas.

Whitehead’s backup is freshman Stephen Roberts was listed as his backup on the team’s recent depth chart but junior defensive back Joshua Holsey could start against the Wildcats.
