Louisville running back Michael Dyer could make his season debut Saturday against Florida International.

Dyer has been out since last month with a bruised thigh but has been practicing all week.

"We saw some really good things from him," coach Bobby Petrino said, according to the Louisville Courier-Journal"The thing that's hard on that is it's not only the injury that he's overcoming, it's the soreness from not doing those things for five weeks — not running hard and cutting and doing all that. The rest of his body is sore."

Dyer enrolled at Louisville last year after stops at Arkansas State and Auburn. With the Tigers, he was the offensive MVP in the 2011 BCS National Championship Game against Oregon.

Dyer has 2,558 career rushing yards and 17 touchdowns. He also missed significant time due to injures for the Cardinals last season.
