Sacramento State beats Menlo 59-14

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) Sacramento State passed for 278 yards, ran for 273 yards and had nine different players score Saturday night in a 59-14 victory over Menlo.

Garrett Safron was 17 of 25 for 203 yards and two touchdown passes to lead the Hornets (3-1) to their best start after four games since 1999.

Jordan Robinson had 114 yards on 10 carries and DeAndre Carter had six catches for 77 yards. Eight different Sacramento State players reached the end zone and Brad Cornish kicked a 34-yard field goal to round out the scoring.

Sacramento State jumped ahead to a 35-7 halftime lead, and Isiah Hennie returned a kickoff 89 yards at the end of the third quarter to put the Hornets up 45-14.

Brandon Soohoo had five catches for 99 yards and a touchdown for Menlo, and Nate Dodson was 17 of 31 for 178 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.
