Georgia Tech forward Charles Mitchell will be eligible to play immediately this season after transferring from Maryland earlier this year, Georgia Tech announced Tuesday.

Mitchell, who's from Marietta, Ga., just outside of Atlanta, had his waiver request to play immediately approved by the NCAA. He had left Maryland in order to be closer to his ill grandmother.
