Virginia Tech running back Shai McKenzie tweeted on Sunday that he's going to miss the remainder of the season because of a torn ACL.
The freshman tore his right ACL late in the game in Saturday's win at home over Western Michigan. It's the same knee he injured his senior year of high school.
Prior to the injury, he had rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown on 18 rushing attempts -- a season high. For the season, he rushed for 269 yards and three TDs in five games.
The Hokies are 3-2 and sixth in the Coastal Division heading into Saturday's game at North Carolina.
