Kansas Jayhawks vs. West Virginia Mountaineers
Kansas visits Milan Puskar Stadium in Morgantown on Saturday to take on West Virginia in a matchup of 2-2 teams. Both teams are looking to bounce back from Big 12 opening losses.
Kansas fired head coach Charlie Weis on Sunday after the Jayhawks were shut out by Texas last week. Clint Bowen was named the team's interim head coach.
West Virginia lost at Oklahoma two weeks ago to open conference play. The Mountaineers lead the all-time series between the schools 2-1, with Kansas winning last year in Lawrence, 31-19.

Josh Lambert's 54-yard field goal in the second quarter matched the second-longest field goal in school history and was the second-longest at Milan Puskar Stadium. West Virginia has scored in every quarter of every game this season. Clint Trickett threw for 376 yards, marking his fifth-straight game with at least 300 yards passing.
09/13: West Virginia 40, Maryland 37
Josh Lambert kicked a 47-yard game-winning field goal as time expired. West Virginia finished its second straight game with at least 600 yards of total offense, picking up 694 yards against the Terps. The Mountaineers squandered a 28-6 first-half lead before coming back to win.
09/06: West Virginia 54, Towson 0
The win was the Mountaineers' first shutout since beating Coastal Carolina 31-0 in 2010. It was West Virginia's first 50-point game since hanging 59 on Kansas in 2012. It was also the Mountaineers' largest margin of victory since they beat Rutgers 80-7 in 2011.
08/30:Alabama 33, West Virginia 23
West Virginia gave up 288 rushing yards and three touchdowns to Alabama while only managing 28 yards on 24 carries. Trickett completed 29 of 45 passes for 365 yards and one touchdown, and receiver Kevin White had nine catches for 143 yards and a touchdown. Mario Alford had a 100-yard kick return touchdown in the second quarter to tie the game at 17 before the Crimson Tide pulled away.

Montell Cozart threw four interceptions, the first Jayhawk quarterback with four picks in a game since Kerry Meier threw four in a loss to Toledo in 2006. The Longhorns have shut out Kansas in two of their last three meetings. They blanked the Jayhawks in Austin in 2011, 43-0. Kansas was 0-for-3 on fourth-down conversion attempts.

Montell Cozart threw two fourth-quarter touchdowns — 60 yards to Justin McCay and 30 yards to Corey Avery—to help the Jayhawks break open a 10-10 tie after three quarters. Tony Pierson's 74-yard touchdown run on Kansas' first play from scrimmage was the first touchdown on the opening play from scrimmage since 2008 against Minnesota. Pierson's run was the Jayhawks' longest play from scrimmage since he caught a 77-yard reception from Jake Heaps against Rice last September.

This was Kansas' 25th consecutive loss away from Memorial Stadium, dating back to a win at UTEP in 2009. Trevor Pardula had four punts of 50 yards or more, giving him 30 punts of at least 50 yards in just his second season as a Jayhawk. Linebacker Ben Heeney recorded double-digit tackles for the 13th time in his career, tying his career high with 15.
09/06: Kansas 34, Southeast Missouri State 28
After the Jayhawks squandered a 34-7 lead at the end of the third quarter, Nick Harwell recovered an onside kick attempt by Southeast Missouri State with 1:33 remaining. Kansas won its season opener for the fourth straight year. Corey Avery became the first true freshman running back to score a touchdown for the Jayhawks since James Sims against Georgia Tech in 2010.
