UCLA, Steve Alford sign contract extension through 2021
UCLA has signed head men's basketball coach Steve Alford to a one-year contract extension, going through the 2020-21 season, athletic director Dan Guerrero announced on Friday.
Last season, Alford's first as head coach, the Bruins went 28-9, making the team's first NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 appearance, as well as winning its first Pac-12 Tournament championship, since 2008.
The team also notched its highest single-season win total since the 2007-2008 season.
Alford's first year also produced three first-round NBA draft picks. Kyle Anderson, Jordan Adams and Zach LaVine were selected by the San Antonio Spurs, Memphis Grizzlies and the Minnesota Timberwolves, respectively.
