Louisiana Tech rolls past UTEP 55-3

RUSTON, La. (AP) Cody Sokol threw for three touchdowns and ran in a fourth to lead Louisiana Tech to a 55-3 win over UTEP on Saturday night.

Louisiana Tech (3-3, 2-0 Conference USA) converted four UTEP turnovers into touchdowns, with Xavier Woods picking off two passes in the second quarter and the defense recovering two forced fumbles in the third. Le'Vander Liggins returned a blocked field goal 54 yards for a TD as well and the Bulldogs scored on all but four of their 12 drives in the game.

Sokol finished with 173 yards on 6-for-16 passing with an interception, and Carlos Henderson hauled in two catches for 100 yards, including a 69-yard TD strike. Hunter Lee and Marcus Gaines both caught touchdown passes, and Kenneth Dixon punched in a TD from the 4.

Jay Mattox kicked a 36-yard field goal just before the half to give UTEP (2-3, 0-1) its only points.
