Notre Dame completes academic fraud review, will not reveal results
Notre Dame has completed its investigation of academic misconduct by five football players, the school announced Sunday.
Those players—KeiVarae Russell, Ishaq Wiliams, DaVaris Daniels, Kendall Moore and Eilar Hardy—have been suspended since Aug. 15 while the university conducted an internal review. Hardy was not among those players originally reported to be involved in the investigation, but was connected as the investigation progressed.
"Often, an academic honesty review involves one student and one academic department," the school's statement read in part, according to NBCSports.com. "Due to the complexity of cases involving multiple disciplines, Comprehensive Honesty Committees were impaneled to review memoranda and extensive exhibits compiled in connection with the General Counsel’s initial inquiry, interview witnesses and the subjects of the hearings, and potentially impose sanctions subject to appeal. A faculty reporter was also appointed to review voluminous material collected during the General Counsel’s investigation to identify cases for the Comprehensive Committees’ review."

That review was completed on Friday, the school said in a statement, and the students involved will learn the decisions "as deliberations on each case conclude." The school will not release the decisions in the case, but the students involved are free to reveal the decision in their case.
Russell, Williams and Daniels were expected to be starters this season.

Notre Dame's quarterback, Everett Golson, did not play last season after violating the school's honor code. Irish basketball player Jerian Grant also missed the second half of last season because of an academic-related suspension. He has since returned to the team.
Notre Dame is 5-0 on the season and ranked sixth in the most recent AP Top 25. The Irish play North Carolina on Saturday.
