Alabama coach Nick Saban said Wednesday that he thinks former Crimson Tide quarterback A.J. McCarron's statement that the team lacks the offensive leadership it had last year is untrue.

"I don't know how AJ would really know, but I don't see that as being the case," Saban said.

McCarron recorded a 36-4 record over three years as a starter at Alabama before being selected in the fifth round of this year's draft by the Cincinnati Bengals.

His comments come after the Tide managed only 396 yards of total offense and 17 points in a six-point loss to Ole Miss. Alabama recorded at least 30 points and 500 yards of total offense in wins over West Virginia, Florida Atlantic, Southern Miss and Florida.

The 4-1 Tide play at Arkansas (3-2) on Saturday.
