Florida to start Jeff Driskel at quarterback vs. LSU
Jeff Driskel will start at quarterback for Florida in Saturday’s game against LSU, Gators head coach Will Muschamp said.
Muschamp’s decision comes after Treon Harris was suspended indefinitely from all team activities earlier this week. The University of Florida police department is investigating Harris after he was accused of sexually assaulting female student this weekend.
"Jeff will start the game," Muschamp said, according to ESPN.com. "We had not made a decision off the last game, who would start the game. Jeff was going to play in the game, I do know that."
Harris came on in relief of Driskel after he was benched in the third quarter of last Saturday’s 10-9 win over Tennessee, leading the team to 10 points in his first two possessions he played.
Muschamp said that freshman Will Grier and sophomore Skyler Mornhinweg, who started Florida’s final three games last season, will compete to back Driskel up and left open the possibility that two quarterbacks could see action against LSU. Muschamp also said he has thought about redshirtingGrier.

"We hadn’t really made a decision considering the length we still had to go in the season," Muschamp said. "So, you know, we had not had that discussion as far as redshirt at that time. Given the situation of having two guys that had played to that point in the season, that’s probably where we were headed. Certainly given the situation right now, obviously not."
Driskel, a fourth-year junior, has struggled all season, but Florida has won three of its first four games.
Driskel has completed only 55 percent of his passes for 695 yards, with five touchdowns and six interceptions, including three against Tennessee that led to his benching.
The Gators are tied for second in the SEC East, with home games against Georgia and Missouri in the next month.
