The ACC says its officials made the correct call of offensive pass interference near the end of No. 7 Notre Dame's contest against No. 2 Florida State on Saturday night.

“In response to your inquiry,” ACC officiating supervisor Doug Rhoads told CBSSports' Dennis Dodd on Sunday night. “I've reviewed the video of the play and the call for blocking downfield was correct."

Officials called back an apparent Notre Dame touchdown that would have likely won the game for the Fighting Irish. Officials called pass interference on Notre Dame, resulting instead in a 15-yard penalty that backed the Fighting Irish into a fourth-and-goal from the Seminoles' 17-yard line. Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson threw an interception on the next play, sealing a 31-27 Florida State victory.

Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly blasted the call, saying it simply rewarded Florida State for blowing its coverage.

"Florida State blew the coverage and they got rewarded for it," said Kelly, according to Irish Illustrated. "[Will Fuller] did not go out of his way to impede the defender. The official that was furthest from the play thought differently."

But one "high-ranking" ACC official disagreed with Kelly's assertion, telling CBS' Dodd that the officiating crew was in "perfect position" to make the call.
