Iowa linebacker Reggie Spearman faces a suspension of at least one game after being arrested early Saturday morning and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Over seven games this season, the sophomore starter has recorded 34 tackles. Spearman registered 10 tackles over 10 games as a true freshman last season.

Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz released a statement on Spearman Saturday afternoon. From The Gazette in Cedar Rapids, Iowa:

“I was disappointed to hear of the charges against Reggie,” Ferentz said. “Reggie will face a minimum one game suspension, as well as other consequences within the program. We will work with authorities in gathering all the facts. Reggie will go through the UI Student Athlete Code of Conduct process and we will move forward from there.”

The Hawkeyes (5-2, 2-1 Big Ten) are on a bye week following a loss at Maryland last weekend. Iowa hosts Northwestern next Saturday.
