Four-star 2016 recruit Desmond Fitzpatrick announced Friday that he has committed to the Louisville Cardinals.

Fitzpatrick, a wide receiver, is ranked as the No. 46 player at his position and No. 6 player from the state of Michigan by Rivals.com.

The 6-foot-1, 188-pound Fitzpatrick chose the Cardinals over offers from Indiana, Illinois, Cincinnati, Kentucky and others.

"It’s really exciting to know that’s where I want to be spending my next four years of college football," Fitzpatrick told 247Sports.com.

Fitzpatrick visited Louisville for a game against Wake Forest last month and said he told his father while driving home that he wanted to go to Louisville.

"I just loved the atmosphere," he said. "Coach Lamar Thomas, Coach (Bobby) Petrino, I love really just everything about Louisville down there from the fans, to the atmosphere and the players talking to me about their experiences at Louisville."

Fitzpatrick will return to the Louisville campus on Nov. 29, when the Cardinals host the Kentucky Wildcats in the regular season finale.
