Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze said Monday that receiver Laquon Treadwell is expected to be sidelined four months after suffering an injury late in Saturday night's loss to Auburn.

Treadwell fractured his fibula and dislocated his ankle. If his recovery goes well, he may be able to participate in spring practice.

With less than two minutes remaining in the game, Treadwell was dragged down from behind as he neared the goal line after catching a screen pass. The play was initially ruled a touchdown, but upon review officials determined Treadwell didn't have possession of the ball when he crossed the goal line.

The loss dropped Ole Miss to 7-2 and severely hurt the Rebels' chances of making the four-team College Football Playoff.

Auburn improved to 7-1 for the season.

Treadwell, a sophomore, was leading Ole Miss with 48 receptions, 632 yards and five receiving touchdowns this season. The Rebels, ranked No. 12 by the AP following the loss, host FCSPresbyterian on Saturday before closing out the regular season with a trip to Arkansas (Nov. 22) and a home matchup with No. 1 Mississippi State (Nov. 29).
