BYU G Kyle Collinsworth (torn ACL) cleared for game action

BYU guard Kyle Collinsworth has been cleared to return to game action after tearing his ACL last year. Collinsworth was the team's leading rebounder and assist-maker and second-leading scorer last season.

BYU guard Kyle Collinsworth has been cleared to return to game action after tearing his ACL last year, according to the team's official website.

Collinsworth will play in the team's exhibition Saturday against Seattle Pacific. His minutes will be monitored through the early part of the season.

Collinsworth sustained the injury in March during the championship game of the WCC tournament against Gonzaga and had surgery a week later.

A returning member of the All-WCC first team, Collinsworth averaged 14.0 points, 8.1 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game last season. He led the Cougars in rebounding in assists and was second in scoring behind fellow guard Tyler Haws, who also returns this season.

Collinsworth, a junior, is playing his second season after going on a two-year Mormon mission in between his freshman and sophomore years.

BYU went 23-12 last season and finished tied for second in the WCC at 13-5, losing in the second round of the NCAA tournament to Oregon. The team opens the regular season next Saturday against Long Beach State.
