Carter leads Sacramento St past Southern Utah

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) DeAndre Carter had a record-setting day, including 16 receptions for 273 yards and four touchdowns, to help Sacramento State beat Southern Utah 42-21 on Saturday.

Garrett Safron passed for 425 yards and five scores for Sacramento State (5-5, 2-4 Big Sky).

After Ammon Olsen hit Chris Robinson for a 21-yard touchdown to tie it at 7, the Hornets scored 35-straight.

Carter set or tied several school receiving records, including the single-game marks for receptions, yards and touchdowns, and now has 15 receiving touchdowns this season, one more than the his record-setting total from a year ago. He has 82 receptions this season, one shy of Tony Washington's single-season record set in 2008 and improved upon his own record of 29 career receiving touchdowns.

Carter is now tied for third on the school's career touchdown list with 34.

Robinson had eight receptions and all three touchdowns for Southern Utah (2-8, 2-4).
