Northern Arizona edges UC Davis 23-21

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) Jordan Perry threw two first-half touchdown passes and Northern Arizona held on to defeat UC Davis 23-21 on Saturday.

Ben Scott threw a 27-touchdown pass to Ramon Vargas midway through the third quarter, and hit Vargas again for a 47-yard score to pull UC Davis (1-8, 0-6 Big Sky) within 23-21 with 8:56 to play. Blake Bailey intercepted Scott at the Aggie 48 with 1:11 left to seal it for the Lumberjacks.

Perry connected with Ify Umodu with a 52-yard strike and threw to Beau Gardner for a 1-yard score. Ryan Hawkins made field goals from 37, 41 and 33 yards, and the Lumberjacks led 23-7 at halftime.

Northern Arizona (7-3, 5-1) has won four straight, including a 28-27 victory over conference-leader Eastern Washington (9-2, 6-1) on Oct. 25, but couldn't gain ground on the Eagles, who beat Montana (6-4, 4-2) 36-26 on Saturday.
